The effort to build a new women and children’s shelter in the Tri-Cities got a big boost from a memorial fund honoring a Bechtel senior vice president who died earlier this year.

A “restoration home” for survivors of sex trafficking is set to open this year in Franklin County.  

The home, called Esther’s Home, is for girls ages 12-17. 

It will be the first facility of its kind in the state. 

Volunteers from local credit unions spent International Credit Union Day, Oct. 20, helping The Arc of Tri-Cities revamp its community center at 1455 Fowler St. in Richland.
The Arc is a nonprofit serving people with developmental disabilities and serves more than 2,000 clients and their families each year.
