Second Harvest's mission is made possible by the hard work and dedication of the good people in the agriculture and food industry, who generously donate 90% – yes, 90% – of the 35 million pounds of food we distribute each year.
The mission’s existing shelter for women and children is on North Second Avenue in Pasco. It’s in a building that’s more than 100 years old, with aging electrical, plumbing and heating systems.
The 3 Rivers Community Foundation distributed the grants to several nonprofits Nov. 30 during its Celebration of Philanthropy event at the Red Lion Columbia Center in Kennewick.
