Amazon announces hundreds of seasonal jobs in the Tri-Cities

Amazon-Sunset-2

Amazon began securing building permits for the previously vacant Project Pearl in April. Those permits have included extensive improvements impacting nearly all areas of the Pasco facility: additional dock doors; chain-link fence enclosures; electrical, telecommunications and security upgrades; fire protection system modifications; parking; water coolers; supporting structural modifications; and miscellaneous signage.

Looking for a job, potentially something part time to help pay for your holiday celebrations? Amazon has opportunities.

The giant online retailer is currently hiring for more than 1,000 positions in the Tri-Cities area as it ramps up staffing ahead of the busy holiday shopping season, according to a release. The hiring blitz is part of an estimated hiring of more than 300,000 people nationwide.

Pay starts at $20 per hour with average hourly pay coming in at $24 per hour.

The company said it will post seasonal jobs weekly now through December. And come Jan. 1, those working in or hired into those roles and working at least 30 hours per week will immediately qualify for healthcare coverage.

Amazon’s local operations include the recently renovated and newly opened regional distribution center and a multimillion-dollar delivery station at 5802 N. Capitol Ave., both in Pasco.

Company officials said seasonal roles may transition to permanent jobs, which the company will be needing in the coming year.

Across the road from regional distribution center, the company’s former cross-dock facility is currently sitting empty after fully shutting down in September for its own renovations. It is expected to reopen in mid- to late 2027 as a primary distribution center, or what Amazon calls a 1DC facility. Such a facility will require its own staff of about 800 employees.
