Walla Walla-based Banner Bank saw its net income decline but its net interest income climb as it completed its acquisition of a Western Washington bank.
Banner reported net income of $47.7 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to $48.9 million for the second quarter and $53.5 million for the third quarter of 2025, according to a release. The bank incurred more than $5 million in merger and acquisition-related expenses related to absorbing Pacific Financial Corp., which operated Bank of the Pacific branches.
However net interest income jumped to $161.9 million for the most recent quarter, up from $153.7 million in the second quarter and $150 million in the third quarter of 2025.
And Banner is still ahead of its annual net income tally for the whole of 2026 compared to 2025 through September, having earned net income of $151.3 million in 2026 compared to $144.1 million during the same period in 2025.
“Banner’s results for the third quarter reflect the continued strength of our super community bank model, which prioritizes deepening client relationships, maintaining a strong funding base and delivering exceptional service while upholding a moderate risk profile,” said Mark Grescovich, Banner’s president and CEO, in a statement. “Banner continues to build on a foundation of solid credit quality, backed by a well-funded credit loss reserve and a robust capital position that offers both resilience and flexibility for future growth.”
