Benton County Fairgrounds is opening its newly renovated grandstands on July 18.
Courtesy Benton CountyThe newly renovated grandstands at McDaniel Arena in the Benton County Fairgrounds will soon be open, just in time for the fair in August.
The updated grandstands have double the seating capacity, expanding from 3,000 to 6,000. Other improvements include updated restrooms, improved access to amenities, enhanced air and sound quality, and the preservation of the historic south-side “over the chutes” structure.
The project was funded by county economic development funds designated for projects that stimulate local economic growth, and was estimated to cost $12 million, the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business reported in June 2025.
Benton County is holding a grand opening from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the fairgrounds at 1500 S. Oak St., Kennewick. The public is invited to the celebration, which will feature free face painting, Kona Ice, a live DJ, food, refreshments and tours of the new arena.
At 7 p.m. that evening, the newly reopened arena will host its first major event, the Monster Truck Insanity Tour.
