The philanthropic arm of global organization that has brought the Ironman triathlon to the Tri-Cities for the past three years provided $18,000 in grants to organizations that volunteered at the 2026 competition.

This year’s grant recipients by the Ironman Foundation include the Columbia Basin Veterans Center, Girls on the Run Southeast Washington, Runners of the Sage, Tri-City Channel Cats, Washington State University Tri-Cities and numerous other school athletic teams, student leadership groups and other community organizations.

“This is an example of the multiple layers of influence and opportunity that hosting Ironman brings to our community,” said Kevin Lewis, president and CEO of Visit Tri-Cities, in a statement. “In addition to the immediate spending from visitors, these grants support organizations that serve our neighbors throughout the year. It’s a meaningful way to recognize the volunteers who help make the event possible and keep that investment working in our community.”

The grants bring the foundation’s total contributions to the Tri-Cities area to $49,000 since the first race in 2024.
