The Kennewick School District will likely seek to renew two expiring levies in early 2026 and is looking for those for and against those property taxes to contribute statements to that election’s voter’s pamphlet.

KSD’s Educational Programs and Operations, or EP&O, and Safety, Security and Technology levies both expire at the end of 2026, leading the KSD board to consider putting them before voters in the Feb. 10 special election. The levies provide funds to support school programs and staffing needs not paid for by state funding and technology and security efforts, respectively.

State law requires a school district to seek community members to serve on committees for and against ballot measures proposed by the district. Those committees are responsible for providing statements supporting or opposing the measure to be published in the local voter’s pamphlet distributed ahead of the election by the county auditor’s office.

Residents interested in serving on a committee are asked to apply by noon on Dec. 5 online: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSee05CxE4v5C79UinFaRjrNt4zadWttQpkyFRjsu_Xz-YemYQ/viewform

The KSD board will appoint up to three committee members to for and against committees during its December 10, 2025 meeting. Contact information for individuals selected by the board may be included in the Benton County Local Voters’ Pamphlet.
