An anonymous donor has given a local nonprofit $500,000 toward its expansion into a new Kennewick facility – and committed to matching community donations dollar for dollar up to $1 million

3 Rivers Community Foundation has announced the launch of its 2026 Meet the Moment Campaign, a community fundraising effort supporting nonprofits serving Benton and Franklin counties. 

A nonprofit dedicated to mentoring youth ages 8 to 17 recently opened a new youth center to “offer a safe haven” for kids. 

For more than 40 years, a local couple have been selling a wide variety of plants, with plenty of wisdom and tips to grow them served up right along with them. Now, their Kennewick plant shop Flower Farm will be replaced by a gas station, causing uncertainty about the future of their business.

This unlikely rock band – made up of local business leaders and retirees – has grown beyond a one-time gig for a fundraiser into an unexpected outlet for connection, collaboration and community involvement.

After several months of changes, from adding programs to a major name change and rebrand, the leader of one of the largest social-service nonprofits in the Tri-Cities has parted ways as the agency works to “align” with its “long-term vision.”

The suspended executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Pasco & Franklin County is no longer with the agency.

The state Department of Commerce has awarded funds to support 56 affordable housing units in the Tri-Cities. 

A Tri-City nonprofit will receive $1.1 million from the state Department of Commerce to support affordable housing in the Mid-Columbia.
