Port of Pasco officials have no intention of letting up the gas, even as its leadership is transforming with the upcoming retirement of its longtime executive director  and the recent retirement of a long-serving port commissioner.

The Pasco airport recorded a total of 949,110 passengers traveling through its gates in 2024, making it the busiest year for the airport ever. 

The research team’s findings could ultimately make it easier to harness hydrogen’s potential as a high energy and zero emissions fuel source. 

Federal funding will pay for a project will turn the remaining two-lane undivided highway between Wallula and Nine Mile Hill into a four-lane divided highway with improved intersections and safety features. 

A nearly $10 million federal grant will pay for rail improvements from Columbia Center Boulevard in Kennewick to Horn Rapids Road in Richland. The work means faster train speeds, reduced wait time for drivers and emergency vehicles, and more railcars using the lines. 

Two men with a combined 40 years of experience in the transit field after working for transit agencies on the east and west coasts have joined Ben Franklin Transit’s executive team. 

Avelo Airlines announced Dec. 17 it would extend its flight schedule at Pasco’s Tri-Cities Airport through Labor Day 2025. Flights can now be booked on Avelo's Los Angeles/Burbank flights through Sept. 2, 2025.

The Port of Benton is gearing up for the multimillion-dollar building remodel that plays a key role in its intermodal facility – a place to connect and transfer goods from trains and trucks.

This Wallula intermodal facility soft-launched early this year with a shipment of about 300 tons of hay, which was trucked in and then transferred to railcars and moved via train to the Northwest Seaport Alliance’s Port of Tacoma.
